Welcome to Cook24("we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "App"). Please read this policy carefully.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect the following types of information:

Profile Information: Name, skill level, dietary preferences, and region you provide during onboarding or in settings.
Usage Data: Recipes viewed, cooked, or saved; ingredients browsed; cooking sessions completed.
Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for diagnostics and compatibility.
Advertising Identifier (IDFA): With your permission, we collect the Apple Advertising Identifier to deliver personalised advertisements through Google AdMob. You will be prompted for permission via the App Tracking Transparency framework before any tracking begins. You can withdraw consent at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Purchase & Subscription Data: Subscription status and purchase history are processed by Apple and RevenueCat to manage your Cook24 Premium entitlement. We do not receive or store your full payment details.
Locally Stored Data: Recipe catalog, ingredient data, and pantry items are stored locally on your device using SQLite and AsyncStorage.
Crash & Diagnostic Data: Crash reports and performance data are collected automatically via Firebase Crashlytics to help us identify and fix issues.

We do not collect precise location, contacts, or payment card numbers.

2. How We Use Your Information

To personalise recipe recommendations and meal planning.
To sync catalog data and deliver updated recipes and ingredients.
To remember your preferences (dark mode, metric units, dietary filters).
To manage and verify your Cook24 Premium subscription.
To serve relevant advertisements to non-premium users (with your consent where required).
To improve app performance and fix crashes and bugs.
To send push notifications about meal reminders or app updates (only with your permission).

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may collect data under their own privacy policies:

Google Firebase (Analytics & Crashlytics) — collects crash reports, device diagnostics, and anonymous usage analytics. Firebase Privacy Policy

Google AdMob — serves advertisements to non-premium users. AdMob may use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA) to personalise ads only if you have granted tracking permission. Google Privacy Policy

We do not sell your personal information to any third party.

4. Data Storage & Security

Most data is stored locally on your device. Sync operations transmit minimal data to our servers over HTTPS. We use industry-standard security practices to protect data in transit and at rest, but no transmission method is 100% secure.

5. Data Retention

Locally stored data is retained until you delete the App. Server-side data (e.g., crash reports) is retained for up to 24 months or as required by the third-party service. You may request deletion of any server-side data by contacting us.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Your Rights

You may request to:

Access or correct your profile data (via the App settings).
Delete your locally stored data by uninstalling the App.
Opt out of personalised advertising by revoking tracking permission in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Contact us to request deletion of any server-side data associated with your account.

If you are located in California, the European Union, or another jurisdiction with applicable data protection laws, you may have additional rights including the right to data portability and the right to object to processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.

8. Push Notifications

With your permission, we send push notifications (e.g., meal reminders) via Firebase Cloud Messaging. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
